Kids Theatre Project Information

2024 Show: Benny and the Supersquad

 

Who Can Register:

Kids 9 -14 years of age.  No experience needed! Space is limited.  KTP participants will be cast in lead and supporting roles for the show.   

  

Workshop Schedule: July 16th-20th, 2024:  Tuesday-Saturday from 12:30-3:00pm.  Performance will be Saturday the 20th at 2pm at Sandia Prep Performing Arts Theatre (across the street from elite Dance & Theatre)

What to expect:  

• Two weeks before the workshop (July 2nd), we will email you the script and casting.  Please contact us via the website “Contact Us” if you do not receive your email by July 2nd at 7pm.  

• Participants are expected to have their lines memorized before we start the workshop. We will jump right in with setting the show, creating costumes and making props on Tuesday, July 16th.

• We use every available space at the studio, so there is not a place for parents to stay and observe.  Parents will check in and check out their students each day.  *Note:New situations can be scary for kids.  If a parent needs to stick around the first day until your child is comfortable, that is okay with us. We ask that there be no additional siblings present.

 

What to wear for the Workshop:  Comfortable clothes that kids can move in and CLOSED toe shoes.  NO sandals or flip flops.

 

What to bring to the Workshop: Your script with your name on it, a water bottle with your name on it, and snacks with your name on the container.

 

Costume Supplies:    

KTP focuses on all aspects of “creating” an entire show, which will include costumes.  We will send out a list of “basics” along with your script and casting on July 2nd, which will list what each participant will need to provide for themselves.  Items will normally be things you can find in your closet or at Goodwill. Additional pieces and accessories will be made during our workshops.

Performance:

We will be presenting our completed show on Saturday, July 20th, 2-3pm at the Sandia Prep Performing Arts Theatre (across the street from elite Dance & Theatre). Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on the elite website beginning July 15th. Our event will include a short performance from our Storybook Camp participants.  
 

Registration:

• Registration fees for KTP Workshop (ages 9-14 yrs): $130

• Registration will begin May 1st, 2024 and closes on June 28th, 2024 at 9pm. Cast availability will determine acceptance of a late registration and will have a $15 late fee.
